Nurturing Growth and Curiosity

At our school, learning is an exciting journey that grows with each grade. From hands-on activities in kindergarten to the pre-algebra in 5th grade, we provide a well-rounded education that challenges and inspires our students. We make sure every child has a chance to grow, learn, and express their creativity. Our classrooms are places where they can ask questions, try new things, become more independent, and thrive!

Kindergarten

In our kindergarten classroom, we follow our school’s mission to “Work Hard, Play Hard” every day. Our teachers create fun, hands-on activities that help our students learn important concepts.

We read books to build language and literacy skills and to help our students explore new ways of thinking. They also enjoy physical education, recess, music, and art. These activities are a big part of how we learn and grow together!

1st Grade

In 1st grade, our students start to grow their independence, confidence, and responsibility for their learning. In language arts, they connect reading and writing while learning how to think like writers. They practice good writing habits and create their own stories in different genres.

In math, they work on addition and subtraction and understand how numbers work. In science and social studies, they learn about the world and their place in it. Each day also includes physical education and recess, along with music and art classes twice a week.

2nd Grade

In 2nd grade, our students build confidence and independence as they strengthen the skills they have already learned. They improve their reading and writing through projects that involve research and deeper thinking.

In science and social studies, they learn more about how things work and why. Along with core subjects, our 2nd graders take part in daily physical education and recess, plus music and art classes twice a week.

3rd Grade

By 3rd grade, our students are expected to be responsible, independent, and organized. Reading remains a big focus, with students working on understanding harder texts and digging deeper into their meaning.

They also practice the full writing process during “free write” time in their journals. In math, students have mastered addition and subtraction and continue building on multiplication skills introduced in 2nd grade. In science, they explore physical, Earth, and life sciences, and show their learning through presentations. They also work on important life skills like self-awareness, managing emotions, building relationships, and making good decisions.

Our 3rd graders benefit from specialized teachers and enjoy two physical education sessions each day, along with weekly music and art classes.

4th Grade

Our 4th grade students read fiction and nonfiction books to learn more about the world, both in the past and today. They read many kinds of texts and think about what they mean. They practice connecting what they read to their own lives and to the people and events they learn about.

They use spoken and written language to express and justify independent thought, and they use a variety of tools to share their knowledge. They share their ideas by speaking and writing and use different tools to show what they know. In 4th grade, students grow as independent learners and help others learn, too. They also enjoy lessons with specialized teachers, two physical education sessions each day, and weekly music and art classes.

5th Grade

In 5th grade, students continue to build independence and personal responsibility. They strengthen important math skills and start learning algebra to get ready for 6th grade.

In social studies, they study U.S. history and geography, learning about important events, challenges, victories, and the people who shaped our nation. Our 5th graders work with specialized teachers and enjoy daily physical education, along with weekly music and art classes.

What’s Next?

As students transition from elementary school to middle school, they begin to explore new ideas and become more independent. They work on more challenging schoolwork, take part in hands-on projects, and practice thinking in creative and critical ways. Middle school is a time for our students to grow and prepare for high school and beyond. They also have opportunities to become leaders, take on more responsibilities, and build their confidence. Through these experiences, they develop important skills and a love for learning that will help them succeed in the future.
