Dear Paragon Parents,
Last night was our first dance of the year, and what a way to end a very full week! It made me so happy to watch our 6th graders jump right in and mesh so well with the older students. Our kids were all dressed up, having fun with friends, and dancing the night away. A huge thank you to our 8th grade parents who decorated, hosted, and created such a fun Knight on the Red Carpet for our students!
And now… I have been officially Septembered. I am tired. Not the regular kind of tired– I am feeling Fallhaustion—the deep kind of exhaustion that comes after a full week of costumes, school spirit, special events, and all the extra energy that makes these weeks so much fun. Spirit Week always seems to be the unofficial doorway into what I lovingly call the fall season of chaos.
Suddenly, we’re thinking about Halloween costumes, holiday travel plans, packed calendars, and hopefully some cooler Texas weather. This time of year can feel like someone pressed the fast-forward button, and before we know it, we’ll be looking at the holidays wondering where the fall went.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about the idea of working fast so I can have slow moments. I know the calendar isn’t going to magically clear itself, so I’m trying to be intentional about getting through the things that need to get done so there is still room to sit a little longer at dinner, enjoy a weekend with my family, or simply be present for the moments that I know will pass too quickly.
I hope by now your family is settling into the groove of school—the morning routines are getting a little easier, the schedules are starting to feel familiar, and everyone has found their rhythm. And as we head into this wonderfully busy season, I hope you can find some slow moments in the middle of it all, too.
Here’s to fall, cooler weather, and enjoying the chaos along the way!
Wishing you a wonderful week,
Lindsay Hay, M.Ed.
