Hello Paragon Families,
Last night was our 6th-8th grade Winter Formal – the Masquerade Ball. There is so much tradition wrapped into our Paragon dances — the songs we have to play each year, the DJ dedicating songs to beloved staff members, and, of course, ending the night with our Paragon anthem, Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”. When that final song plays, each grade forms a circle, arm in arm, singing at the top of their lungs. I step into the middle of those circles and take photos of our students — a tradition I have kept for over 15 years. In those moments, I always remember the countless students I have captured standing shoulder to shoulder. Every year, when I step into the 8th grade circle, I tear up knowing this is one of the last times we will all be together like this. They have one more dance in May, but seeing them so happy and united fills me with both joy and nostalgia. Without fail, it brings tears to my eyes every time.
After a freeze-filled weekend across Austin, our middle school students arrived ready to party– dressed fancy and bringing incredible energy into the room. It was wonderful watching them step out of their daily routines and into an evening filled with celebration, laughter, and fun. These milestone experiences help students build confidence, strengthen friendships, and create memories they will carry with them long after middle school.
Last week’s freeze did unfortunately impact our campus as well, damaging the shade structure over our playground. During the dance, we were able to safely remove the shade covering, but the steel poles that supported the structure still pose a safety concern for students. I am currently gathering quotes to have the structure fully removed and replaced. We anticipate needing another week before the remaining poles can be safely taken down so students can return to full playground use. Thank you for your patience as we prioritize safety while working quickly toward a solution.
I also want to celebrate the incredible success of re-enrollment. 89% of our families have already committed to returning next year, which is truly remarkable and speaks volumes about the strength of our community. Thank you for your trust and partnership. We are now processing the largest number of new student applications Paragon has ever received, and we are excited about the continued growth and momentum of our school.
Thank you to our staff and families who helped make the Winter Formal possible and for your continued partnership in building meaningful traditions and experiences for our students. Even in the middle of a cold winter stretch, the Paragon community continues to bring warmth, pure joy, and connection to our students’ lives.
Warmly,
Lindsay Hay, M. Ed.
